Charley Brady was born in Ayr, Scotland in 1959 and has lived in Ireland since 1979.
As an occasional freelance writer he has contributed to various publications such as Magill and Househunters in the Sun as well as the Sunday Independent and others. He wrote a two-page weekly political feature for five years in New York’s Irish Examiner USA and has written the ‘Swimming Upstream’ column for Chicago’s Irish American News for the past decade.
His interests include a life-long passion for the films of Sam Peckinpah, Ken Russell and David Cronenberg, as well as a different kind of passion for Jessica Lange.
He adores the writing of Gore Vidal, H. P. Lovecraft, Shakespeare, J. G. Ballard and Robert E. Howard.
Despite being born without a single sporting gene he once played a round of golf (‘never again!’) and has happy memories of Celtic winning the European Cup in 1967.
He lives in Oranmore, County Galway.
